'73 Corvette Brake Problem? (Answers: 7) (Comments: 0)
I just replaced all 4 calipers on my 73 vette. I bled the system just like chevy says to. The pedal is not very solid and it travels most of the way to the floor when the car is off. Once I start the car the pedal pressure almost completely goes away and I can push it all the way to the floor. The brakes do grab in the last approximately 1/2 inch of travel, but I know something isn't right. There are no leaks, I've looked everywhere I can think of and even after a ton of pedal pushes, the master is still full. It seems like it's air in the lines, but if it's in there I sure can't get it to come out. Anyone got any ideas?

Can anyone help with 1973 corvette brake problem? (Answers: 5) (Comments: 0)
After braking hard last fall the brakes seem to grab after starting out. Almost like a "brake start" and they seem OK while driving until the next stop, then the pedal slowly goes to the floor with very little braking power. There is small amounts of fluid behind the wheels in the driveway. 3 years ago lifetime calipers were installed....what is leaking and why...????

the breaks squeak when I brake. They're not worn at all, but they sqeuak!!!!! I it was from magnesium in the brake pads or something, but the dealer said it was unique and that they couldn't duplicate the problem :-/. the car brakes fine, but the noise is really annoying. it's a 2005 if that helps. anyone else have this problem? the brakes themselves are pretty clean, the car is my dad's and he washes it every weekend and waxes it every other weekend but thanks for the advice thus far. It's really annoying when you're in such a great car to have it sound like a jalopy when stopping

1979 Corvette brakes:? (Answers: 4) (Comments: 0)
I recently bought a Corvette to restore, but the front brakes don't seem to work. I thought at first one of the brake lines was busted, but visually they both seem to be fine, with no leaks. The pads and everything else seemed to have been replaced at one point. There is a a leak, on my floor on the left side. it seems to come out of the master cylinder, out the top of the tank. But only the front side of the tank becomes empty. These brakes are fancier than I am use too, I was wonder if my Proportioning valve is the problem? I am not sure how to test if this is the issue. Also it seems to run about $129 is that too much? Thanks!
